What a sleeper

So we all dream of having a baby who sleeps through the night from the very beginning. Well, I've learned that in some ways it is just a different pain. See, I've found out that some babies really don't cry when they are hungry, they sleep through it and then the doctors start freaking out about weight loss. So I have to set an alarm to wake myself up so I can wake her up to eat. It just seems so backwards. Lorelei is finally latching on well so as long as I can get her to wake up things are great.

The boys love her so much. They were sad that 'baby sister' couldn't come to church with them today. They wouldn't leave her until they had each given her about 5 kisses.

Full Moon Antics

I was all setup to play on the computer last night when the power of the full moon ruined all my plans. Instead of a relaxing evening, I had a baby. Not to bad of a labor, but quite a bit different from my boys. Lorelei Nicole McQuade was born at 9:46 p.m. Oct 25, but she didn't have a name until the 26th. Frank has kindly agreed to this name that I wanted ( really I just wouldn't let him go home and sleep until he agreed. at 4:30 in the morning I think he would have said yes to most anything). She is 7 lbs 12 oz. 21 inches long and a terrible eater, but she is cute.

Daddy's Boys

I think it's pretty obvious why Joseph and Derek love their dad so much. I think he's the best husband and daddy ever. The kids and I have been sick this last week and he's taken care of all of us. I'm getting better and yet I still don't feel 'ready' to have this baby. It's kind of an odd feeling. At this point, with both of the boys, I was dying to have them come. I'm feeling much more patient this time. Which is probably good because I do have 2 ish more weeks left. And for those of you wondering, No we still don't have a named picked out.

September

The month of September is over and with that our weather has cooled off into the 70's. Have I mentioned I like the weather here? For those who I spend too much time with on the phone (my mother being the number one - poor thing has to listen to me talk for hours every week) many of these stories I'll post soon you've undoubtedly heard.

First I would like to tell you all how to completely shove your foot into your mouth.....and then gag on it. One Sunday during Sacrament Meeting I happened to grab a rather large piece of bread. I popped it in and started chewing. I glanced at Frank; yep, he also noticed it was disgusting. He quickly chewed and swallowed. I looked around for something to spit it out in- I had nothing. Grimacing I kept chewing, "ok I can do this" "it's not so bad" "now you just have to swallow" I did. Wished I hadn't and looked around for something to vomit in- nothing. I decide complaining to Frank will help me get over it. The meeting continues and I live. After, I walked to my 9-10 year old primary class and as usual I chatted with the kids for awhile before beginning the lesson. Topics included the kids starting school, and what kinds of food we like, and then the girl next to me asked the class what we all thought of the sacrament bread. Most of the kids started to respond in mutters and I responded as well. The girl didn't hear me so she asked me directly and I replied, " I thought it was disgusting; it made me almost throw up". I saw her face and I began to feel a little panicky. "um, did you bring the bread today?" (I almost didn't want her to answer) Her face fell into her hands and she burst into tears saying, "I made it".
And there you have it.....foot in mouth....then shove.

On a more physically, but less emotionally destructive note, Derek is a whirlwind of disaster.

"Hey Jill, how has your week been?"

"Oh something like this....
On Sunday Joseph and Derek got into the matches and lit one with a nice scorch mark on the box to prove it.
On Tuesday Derek dumped out a new box of dishwasher soap all over the carpet.
On Wednesday Derek and Joseph dumped an entire bottle of shampoo into their bath.
On Thursday Derek and Joseph got into all of my Christmas decorations, unwrapped every roll of wrapping paper, pulled out all the ornaments -breaking many into teeny tiny pieces, strung the lights around and plugged them in.
On Friday Derek dumped out 3-4 bottles of spices onto the counter and stirred them up.
On Saturday Derek and Joseph smeared Vaseline all down the back of my couch and on the carpet.
On Sunday Derek got toothpaste/toothbrush for his lesson in nursery, came home and smeared toothpaste all over my bedding and the bathroom counter.

How was your week?"
