awww, my kids are cute

Lorelei was asleep when Derek found a fruit snack on the floor that his sister dropped. He showed it to me with excitement and I, knowing there was only one whispered to him that he could eat it. He looked at me and said no, I want to share it with Joseph. They make me happy.

Then Derek asked me what the end of a pencil is called. I told him it was an eraser. He wanted to know what it was for so I gave them a demonstration. I wish you could have seen the awe in their faces. They thought it was amazing. lol, life with children is a joy. (just a tiring joy :) )

Happy Birthday Lorelei!!

These pictures are backwards and I'm too tired to fix them right now. She loved her first cake, ate it all and tried to eat her brothers. Thanks grandmas for the presents.

My Baby turned one today. This video is the night before playing peekaboo with her daddy.

pg update

I've put off updating this blog because I don't have any new pictures to add. I've always been hesitant to have posts where it's only me typing. I feel pressure to have my writing be top-notch and extremely entertaining. I do not think it's either; therefore, I'll treat it like my journal with a spell checker.

This whole pregnancy I've felt like I haven't had the best pre-natal care. In some ways this is great because honestly, What do 'they' (the doctors) do at a normal visit? You pee in a cup, weigh yourself, blood pressure check, and measure your belly. Let's face it- I can do all of these at home and hardly warrant a 2 hour trip to the doctor when I have to 'waste' using my free friend babysitters. I'd much rather use them for fun things or at least a relaxing break.

However, now that I'm at the end....well end'ish' of my pregnancy I'm actually wanting and needing to see a doctor and can't. Mostly so they'd pay for some testing strips so I can monitor my blood glucose. With Lorelei's pregnancy I had diet controlled case of gestational diabetes. It wasn't hard to stay in range, but I did cut sugar out of my diet. This time I think I've got it again only it seems different. I haven't been cutting sugar out, in fact I've been eating more. After getting worried about it, I finally spent my own money (hee hee, it is my own money now - not loan money!) on some testing materials. My numbers after eating sugar were great. My numbers this morning after eating shredded wheat were terrible. Seriously what is up with that? I think this explains my midmorning/ 10:45-12:45 exhaustion. My blood sugar is going up really high for 2 hours and then as it goes down I start to feel incredibly tired.

Now, why can't I see a doctor? There are two doctors in town who deliever. After 2 weeks of badgering them and my old doctor my records were finally faxed over. (they wouldn't even schedule an appointment without them- they wanted to see them before they would deign to see me). Then they scheduled my first visit- for NOV 6! Soo not helpful people. I've had it up to here with them and want to see a home birth midwife. ...........and now I feel like I've opened a can of worms. Every time I talk to people about this they either think I sound like an obsessed nut case or they get really quiet to try to be supportive. I can still hear what they aren't saying because enough people are saying it.

And the worst part about it is I'm not completely sold on the idea. Only for vastly different reasons then 'everyone' else. My one concern (ONE, I said) is that I'd have to pay for it instead of medicaid paying for a hospital birth. That is Frank's biggest concern.
........let's just say it is frustrating. I understand that all people are different and have different experiences and thoughts, but in this particular area I just wish everyone would agree with me.

Anyway, the kids are good other than getting sick of begging their tired mother to take them to the park. Frank is really enjoying his job. We haven't been able to get our financing for buying a home, but they also haven't told us no yet. So we are still working on that.

32 weeks

I was reading my weekly update on my pregnancy and I couldn't help but laugh. This is how I want to respond now when people ask how I'm feeling.

"Hormonal changes in pregnancy loosen your joints and the ligaments that attach your pelvic bones to your spine. This can make you feel less stable and cause pain when you walk, stand, sit for long periods, roll over in bed, get out of a low chair or the tub, bend, or lift things."

Frogs and Shoes

Now that Lorelei is walking, I realized she must have shoes. I've never put her in them because 1. baby shoes are expensive and always seem like a waste of money to me and 2. she has 'fat' feet. Not wide and not high arches, but just didn't ever fit into any shoes. My friend Cathryn won a pair of Shoo Shoos last year; she loved them so I checked out their website . I was so excited to see they had a number of styles on clearance (cheaper than I could buy at target!) . I bought a pair for her and one for the new baby.

These shoes are fantastic. Here's their website in case anyone else is needing shoes their babies can actually walk in. Click Me

To keep up on postings of wildlife, here's a frog that comes out on my kitchen window at night. Sometimes two come out. Too bad the boys can't see them.
